Crafty Kids: Meet Julia
The best part of craft shows is chatting to people who love all the same things I do; I get to meet other vendors and makers, and talk to customers who love handmade things.
I can't remember when I first met Julia and her mom, but they soon became people I looked forward to seeing markets and craft fairs. I gave Julia the nickname "My Best Customer". Julia is super crafty- and she REALLY loves paper dolls. It is fun to hear what she is up to whenever I see her. I think Julia is so great, and you should read below to learn more about her.
Briana: What was your first paper doll?
Julia: When I first found Union Studio, I liked all the paper dolls but I could get only two, so my first two dolls were "Nutcracker" and "Jessie the Fox Maiden", who are both two of my favourite dolls.
B: What is your current favourite paper doll?
J: How could I choose just one? I think right now my two favourites are Julie from "Mittens for Jessie" and the Jessie from "The Fox Maiden". I like these two so much because their stories go well together, and their designs and patterns on the clothes are so beautifully made.
B: What is your favourite craft to do?
J: My favourite crafts right now are sewing and mending things, friendship bracelets and origami. But anything having to do with paper, I will enjoy.
B: If you could learn any type of craft or take any type of fun art class what would it be?
J: I would love to learn how to paint with watercolours and learn some watercolour techniques.
B: What other things do you like to do besides crafting?
J: Besides crafting, I like to play my ukulele and take photos with my camera.
B: What are your favourite subjects in school?
J: My favourite subjects in school are Art and Math.
B: What do you want to be when you grow up?
J: When I grow up I want to be an artist or an art teacher. Basically if I'm teaching, I'll be happy.
B: If you were a paper doll kit, what would your outfits or accessories be, what would your pet be?
J: If I were a paper doll, my clothes would be very colourful and some would be "the colour it yourself ones" like the Nutcracker's Dresses. Some of the accessories would be a painting set or a camera. My pet cats would be included: Emma, Athena, Karl and Willow.
Julia agreed to be my first "Crafty Kids" Interview, and I am so happy she said "Yes!" If you know someone who is a crafty kid, Or if you have any story to share about paper dolls, send me a note!
